Hi there! I am a PhD candidate in Global Studies at the University of Massachusetts in Lowell. My research explores issues of international security and governance, broadly construed, using the Arctic region as a case for analysis. I am interested in how states understand their security challenges in the Arctic, particularly dynamics of climate change, identity activation, and competition. I am also interested in how those dynamics create narratives and the ways in which different actors react to them in regional fora, such as the Arctic Council. Before UMass, I received my undergraduate degree in International Relations from Sao Paulo State University, in Brazil. 

As a researcher and an instructor, my goal is to encourage students to become more involved with International Relations research by providing constructive feedback and highlighting the importance of a solid foundation for any career path. Knowing your basics, whether in IR or in life, goes a long way.
